South Pars Gas Field Development Project, Offshore Platforms Phases 15 and 16

The South Pars gas field is located approximately 100 km southwest of Assaluyeh, in Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf. The National Iranian Oil Company intends to develop Phases 15 and 16 of the South Pars gas field. Pars Oil and Gas Company is responsible for the overall development of the field. The company has signed a contract with IOEC / ISOICO / SAFF, according to which the offshore part of these phases has been assigned to this group. IOEC is the contractor for the installation of the pipeline and offshore facilities. ISOICO is the EPC contractor for Phase 16 and SAFF is the EPC contractor for Phase 15. The basic design was carried out by Aker Kvaerner and the detailed design was carried out by SLTE.

The offshore development of Phases 15 and 16 includes the construction of two wellhead platforms SPD15 and SPD16. Each phase has a wellhead platform and a midstream support and communication platform connected to the flare platform. Each wellhead platform has 15 slots. The produced gas is transported via a 32-inch pipeline to the onshore facility in Assaluyeh. The gas export pipeline is accompanied by a 4-inch MEG line.

The wellhead platforms are uninhabited and have small facilities for the operations team, who are sometimes forced to spend the night on the platform. Power generation is provided by two generators. A submarine fiber-optic cable transmits control signals to the Phase 2 or 3 platforms located near the platforms. From there, these signals are transmitted to the onshore plants in Phases 15 and 16, as well as to the SPQ1 central control room.
